Frequently Asked Questions

What is an XML Sitemap? +

An XML sitemap is a file that lists a website's essential pages, making sure search engines can find and crawl them all. It acts as a roadmap of your site, indicating which pages you think are most important.

Why is an XML sitemap important for SEO and AEO? +

Search engines and AI answer engines use crawlers to read the web. If your pages aren't linked properly internally, crawlers might miss them entirely. An XML sitemap acts as a safety net, ensuring crawlers know exactly where every piece of your content lives.

Where should I put the generated sitemap? +

Save the generated code into a plain text file named sitemap.xml. Upload this file to the root folder of your website (so it is accessible at https://www.yoursite.com/sitemap.xml). Once uploaded, you should submit that exact URL to Google Search Console to speed up crawling.
